Installation Methods +

Method 1: Pin Top/Dowel on Top and Shoe on Bottom (Most Common)

  • Drill a hole in the underside of the handrail (1.5" deep) and in the floor (0.5" deep).
  • Cut your baluster to length using a metal abrasive cutting tool or hack saw. Cut from the bottom of the baluster.
  • Put your shoes on each baluster, secured with masking tape.
  • Put epoxy in the top and bottom hole.
  • Put the top of the baluster in the handrail first, and then drop the bottom into the floor hole. 
  • Apply a bit more epoxy in the top hole and let it sit for 24 hours.
  • After 24 hours, remove the masking tape and drop the baluster over the floor hole.

Method 2: Screw-Down Shoe on Top and Bottom (Easiest - No Holes Needed)

  • Cut your baluster to length using a metal abrasive cutting tool or hack saw. Cut from to top of the baluster, removing the Pin Top/Dowel.
  • Use either the Flat Screw Down Shoe for flat sections or the Swivel Screw Down Shoe for angled sections.
  • Put each end of the baluster into the shoes and fasten the screws into the handrail and floor. Screws are included with the screw down shoes.

Powder coating is used for aesthetic appeal and as a protective layer. It is applied as a dry powder and cured under heat. It provides a tougher finish than traditional paints and is more resistant to scratching, chipping, and fading.
